After several years of editing for companies including Kirkus Editorial, Forbes Advantage Media, and a subsidiary of HarperCollins, I honed my focus to an area of interest and personal meaning: psychology.
My editing service, Psych Prose, provides multifaceted publishing support for authors whose work touches the field of psychology. This can mean academic research, long-form professional writing, or articles and books aimed at demystifying common struggles and offering guidance.
I appreciate psychology as someone who has found life better on the other side of grasping many of its principles. Also, like not a few readers, I find that a connective understanding of stories is impossible without insight into what the key players' private experience of life looks like and why; psychology has always interested me in this light as well.
My enthusiast's research into the area is supplemented with formal training and certifications from the Medical University of South Carolina, Indiana University Bloomington's School of Public Health, the Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy organization in concert with 3C Institute, the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, the Lyda Hill Institute for Human Resilience at UCCS, the Global Center for Religious Research, and more. I additionally volunteer as a GRIT coach through Lyda Hill and a crisis counselor through Crisis Text Line.
I'm pleased to say I have helped researchers and other field experts ready their work for publication in peer-reviewed journals; supplement their writing with strong research; shape, complete, and polish book-length manuscripts; write proposal materials; and find the right agents or publishers.
If you’re potentially interested in working together but unsure precisely what level of assistance you need, we can discuss your project in depth—arranging a free sample edit if helpful—en route to choosing the right combination of services.
